And so it goes... I'm very sad to report that as of about two months ago, the Election has officially broken up. I haven't had the heart to write about it until now. It was a completely sudden, unexpected, and thorough dissolution. As I would much rather have this website stand as a tribute to the music, I'm not going to place blame here. But I will say the reasons for our breakup were in no way worthy of the music we were creating and honing together.
In our 8 or 9 months together, we wrote and learned what would have been a full album's worth of songs. However, the Election was still a very young and developing band... I don't claim our concerts to have been flawless, but I do believe we were headed in quite an interesting and worthwhile direction, and am personally very disappointed we'll never be able to hear our songs in the form of a finalized studio recording.
But, what happens happens. Polishing and studio production aren't the most important things in music. Honesty is. And through the rough concert recordings we made, I can still hear the honesty. So I'm posting our final concert (06-06-2006 at Silvie's Lounge). Thus, our very first and very last show (both at Silvie's) are up for your listening pleasure.
Before I finish this off, I'll take the opportunity to mention other projects us ex-Election members are involved with.
Jason & myself are incredibly excited about our education/science/powerpoint-themed band "Nuclear Biologist Rocket Surgeons". We'll be playing our first show in a matter of weeks. More info here: www.myspace.com/nbrs
I also play keyboards in the band Genital Hercules, which is scheduled to start recording our 2nd album (which happens to be a rock opera) soon.
Thanks so much for coming to our shows and supporting our music, it's been a great ride.
